Itinerary

Welcome to Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city. Explore the charming Haga district with its wooden houses, cobblestone streets, and cozy cafés. Discover the iconic Poseidon statue and visit the Gothenburg Museum of Art. The city is surrounded by beautiful parks and canals that give Gothenburg its unique character.

You’re starting your journey with the sea at your side — a wonderful companion right from the first pedal stroke. Leaving Gothenburg, you follow the harbor and soon head south along the coast. Cliffs, lush forests, bays, and marinas line your way as you cycle onto the old railway path, now transformed into a scenic bike trail close to the sea. You pass through Särö, once the playground of the royal family and Gothenburg’s high society, and continue toward Vallda. The coastline, charming villages, and open landscapes guide you onward until you reach Kungsbacka for your first overnight stay.

South of Kungsbacka the landscape begins to change — the rocky coastline gradually gives way to longer and wider sandy beaches. As you continue, the open fields and horse farms accompany you along the route. The first dunes appear as you get closer to the coast. Eventually you reach Varberg, a charming town with an impressive historic center.

Starting from Varberg, you will soon reach picturesque fishing villages, where artists and artisans bring the coastline to life. In Träslövsläge you can enjoy freshly cooked lobster and stroll through the charming old harbor area. Continuing along the coast, you’ll pass sandy beaches, small harbors, and open landscapes until you finally arrive in Falkenberg, a welcoming town with a rich history and lively seaside atmosphere.

Starting in Falkenberg, one of the oldest medieval towns in Halland, you head south along the coast. The route takes you over the beautiful Grimsholmen nature reserve, with sweeping sea views and open landscapes. You then pass Ugglarp, a small coastal community known for its vegetable gardens and pleasant beach. As you continue, the scenery shifts between lush farmland, nature reserves and open countryside, with the sea as your constant companion. Your destination today is Sweden’s most famous beach — Tylösand — and the well-known hotel of the same name, both well worth a visit. You continue to your hotel in Halmstad.

From Halmstad you begin your journey north, passing through the nature reserves of Gullbranna and Tönnersa. You then follow one of Sweden’s longest sandy beaches, cycling past the seaside resorts of Mellbystrand and Skummeslövsstrand. Continuing onward, you reach the beautiful summer town of Båstad, before leaving the coast to cross the peninsula. The route takes you through open meadows and towards Magnarps Port, where a charming, tucked-away fish restaurant offers a stunning sea view. Following the coastline once more, you pass small coastal communities and finally arrive in Ängelholm.

Starting in Ängelholm, your route leads you across the Kulla Peninsula, passing vineyards and small farm shops. You continue toward Höganäs, where you can discover and purchase the world-famous salt-glazed Höganäs ceramics. Following the coastline, you cycle through charming little fishing villages and small boat marinas. Soon you reach Sofiero Palace with its flourishing gardens — a true oasis that was awarded “Europe’s Most Beautiful Park” in 2010. Your day ends with a pleasant ride along the promenade as you enter Helsingborg, where you stay overnight.

You finish your Kattegat adventure with a beautiful final stretch from Helsingborg to Malmö. The route is almost completely flat and offers wonderful views of the sea as you follow bike paths and small side roads south along the coast. Charming seaside towns and open landscapes accompany you on this last day. Pure cycling pleasure — all the way to your final destination, Malmö.

After breakfast your tour ends. We are happy to extend your holidays with extra nights.
