Itinerary

Take your first walk through Sweden’s second-largest city and explore some of its many sights and tourist attractions.

From central Gothenburg, you cycle along the harbor entrance, passing Röda Sten with Klippan Cultural Reserve and the Röda Sten Art Hall. You continue past Nya Varvet and head toward the scenic island of Stora Amundön. The bike trail runs right next to the sea between Askim and Billdal, lined with cliffs, lush forests, bays, and small marinas. Shortly after Särö, you reach the old railway embankment, which has now been transformed into a bike path. In Särö — once a popular retreat for royalty and Gothenburg’s high society in the past century — you continue cycling toward Vallda and then head east toward Kungsbacka.

From Kungsbacka, you cycle through fields and horse farms with Fjärås Bräcka rising behind you before reaching the scenic spot of Fjärås Bräcka. Here, you can take a break, enjoy views over the lake and sea, and visit the Li burial ground, which features more than 100 standing stones. North of Varberg, the landscape changes—the sandy beaches become fewer and smaller, replaced by more rocky cliffs, and the first islands begin to appear in the sea.

From Varberg, you begin your cycling journey south along the beautiful Strandpromenaden, with Varberg Fortress standing behind you. If you start early, you might have time to visit the fortress and see the Bocksten Man — a unique medieval find. You continue through the open coastal landscape, passing several charming fishing villages such as Träslövsläge and Glommen. In Träslövsläge, you can enjoy freshly boiled langoustines and stroll through the old alleys lined with well-preserved wooden houses. Soon, you’ll reach Falkenberg, one of Halland’s oldest medieval towns, where you cycle through the town center before continuing your journey southward.

From Falkenberg, you cycle south and first pass Skrea Strand — one of the West Coast’s most popular beaches. Your journey then continues through the beautiful natural surroundings of Grimsholmen and onward to the small coastal village of Ugglarp, known for its vegetable farms and lovely seaside swimming spots. The landscape along the way is characterized by sea views, open fields, fertile farmland, and several fascinating nature reserves. In Steninge, you can take a break, visit the glassworks, or relax and enjoy classic Swedish food and drink. Continue north along the coast and be sure to stop at the windmill in Särdal, where you’ll find both a café and a farm shop. Soon, you’ll reach Halmstad and Sweden’s most famous beach — Tylösand — with its white sandy stretch and well-known hotel. Both the beach and the hotel are well worth a visit before you head into the town center.

After breakfast your tour ends. We are happy to extend your holidays with extra nights.
